Steroid users become furious easily

Although it is not yet manifested scientifically whether “roid rage” is an unwanted result of steroids, these medications are blamed for different crimes quite often.
Michael Barton, a person from Britain, hit a Ford Fiesta, while he was driving his Volkswagen Golf. Paul Gard was a motorist of Ford Fiesta. Barton had passed Paul Gard. But then he had to pull back in front of Paul Gard, since another vehicle was driving the other way. Paul Gard flashed him. So, he had to brake immediately. Barton became furious, stopped his car, broke the wing mirror of Paul Gard’s Ford Fiesta and hit Gard in the face. Then Gard’s wife took her mobile and informed police. While she was calling, Barton left calmly.
Michael Barton, a 21-year-old man who has a kid of two years old, applies steroids for bulking effects. So, it has been confirmed that these preparations affected his behavior. The defense attorney for Michael Barton claimed that steroids had a negative impact on temperament of his client, since these medicines enhanced his levels of testosterone.
Earlier Michael Barton was convicted for certain crimes, including domestic violence. Last year he pleaded guilty to an assault, criminal damage and driving carelessly because of his anger following assaults.
Patrick Hooton, the judge, claimed that he was not sure that steroids were responsible for his improper behavior. But he noticed that it was entirely mad to become raging and hit a man in the face only because he flashed him. The judge noticed that Barton’s behavior was very immoral and he said: “you ought to go to prison”.
So, Michael Barton was sentenced to 6-month jail sentence suspended for a year; he was also enforced to pay 500 dollars in compensation and ?277 for damage of Paul Gard’s Ford Fiesta.

Green tea represents new method to cheat

Sportspersons become more and more sophisticated in administration of steroids. They find new ways to hide their administration of banned preparations. Several athletes take time to study experts’ statements which may help them to hide that they dope. Today a method has been discovered: athletes can mask application of testosterone with the help of green tea.
Testosterone is a hormone which presents in body naturally. Thus, it may be difficult for anti-doping organizations to determine that a person has used testosterone. T: E ratio testing is usually used by anti-doping organizations. Such tests may demonstrate uncommon ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in urine. But it is not capable to display difference between testosterone that has been produced in body naturally and that introduced into body with the help of injections, creams, etc.
Declan Naughton and his colleagues at Kingston University ( London) have determined that green tea has such compounds that are called “catechins”. They are capable to inhibit the enzyme UGT2B17. This enzyme induces attaching glucuronic acid to testosterone. In case UGT2B17 is inhibited, less testosterone glucoronide is excreted in urine.
Catechins, the substances that have capacity to mask intake of testosterone, are in green and white tea. Such compounds are not in black tea.
Naughton and his colleagues have conducted several experiments. They confirm that a cup of strong green tea hides application of testosterone.
Thus, those sportspersons that take testosterone may lower measures of testosterone that are excreted in urine by drinking of green or white tea. Green or white tea can block excretion of testosterone, enhancing circulating levels of this hormone.
The World Anti-Doping Agency was informed about the findings by the experts. If this process occurs, it is worthless to subject athletes to urine tests. Blood tests should be performed in order to detect testosterone use.
Olivier Rabin, the WADA’s expert, claims that regular checks of blood steroids will be added. Everything will be done by anti-doping officials in order to prevent fooling of urine tests.

Amino acids labeled as doping products were sent to Wim Vansevenant

The case against Wim Vansevenant, a former Belgian rider, changed dramatically. An analysis displayed that the doping medicines that were ordered by him didn’t contain the contents enumerated on the labels. The former rider was cheated by the company where he ordered the drugs.
Last year some packages sent to the former Belgian rider by an Australian company were intercepted by customs officials. According to the labels of  the intercepted  bottles,  they contained the doping substance TB-500. It is a peptide hormone that can induce enhancing muscle strength and speed healing. The Belgian authorities started an investigation. It was believed that Wim Vansevenant supplied the Omega Pharma-Lotto team with doping substances. This sportsperson rode professionally 10 years, from 1998 to 2008. Last 6 years of his riding career he was with this team.
An analysis of the bottles seized by customs showed that only amino acids were contained. Wim Vansevenant’s attorney claimed that the accusations had to be dropped. He explained that since the product was not connected with doping, the former sportsperson didn’t deserve to be punished.
The prosecutor’s spokesperson Johan Lescrauwaet confirmed that the contents didn’t correspond to the name of the medicine that was indicated on the label and to the words of the former athlete.
Only amino acids were discovered in the bottles. No any doping medicine. So, there is no any evidence that Wim Vansevenant provided doping preparations to other persons.
The hearing of the former Belgian professional rider was scheduled to be later.

Toxicologist Bruce Goldberger: it’s impossible to prove that Roger Clemens doped, basing only on beer can

Testimonies of the well-known toxicologist Bruce Goldberger will probably influence greatly on decision of the court in the case linked with Roger Clemens. Bruce Goldberger is the Professor of Pathology and Director of Toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. This expert testified on behalf of Roger Clemens. However he was invited in order to replace Don Catlin, the director of the WADA UCLA Medicine, Goldberger’s testimonies differed from those that are commonly provided by anti-doping agencies. This toxicologist testified on behalf of the accused baseball player.
Bruce Goldberger has gotten his celebrity due to his participation in different news programs. Even during such programs he doesn’t refrain from critical words. Bruce Goldberger criticized some anti-doping agencies, including the WADA.
Bruce Goldberger expressed critical words for feds in the case linked with Roger Clemens. They based on “beer can evidence” provided by McNamee to prove that Roger Clemens took steroids and HGH. Brian McNamee, the former personal coach of this sportsperson, presented a beer can containing used needles and syringes which had traces of such steroids, as Sustanon, Primobolan Depot and Deca Durabolin and were mixed allegedly with Roger Clemens’ blood.  The beer can was kept by McNamee over 6 years. The toxicologist noted that such basis wasn’t reasonable.
Goldberger claimed that it was impossible to base on “beer can evidence”. He noticed that no one could prove that Roger Clemens used steroids and HGH, basing on the beer can, because the theory of contamination could present.
Thus, Bruce Goldberger didn’t support the affirmations of the government. Earlier he also expressed criticism related to evidence used by some anti-doping organizations.
Certain years ago Bruce Goldberger testified on behalf of the American cyclist Floyd Landis, when this sportsman appealed positives for steroids. A WADA-accredited lab located in France found traces of exogenous testosterone; T: E ratio and carbon isotope ratio tests were applied by the lab. Bruce Goldberger expressed similar words and criticism during the appeal related to Floyd Landis.
Bruce Goldberger noticed during an interview that the WADA utilized inadequate methods and violated rights of athletes in order to achieve the success in anti-doping programs.
As for Floyd Landis, he lost his appeal and acknowledged that he had administered steroids, EPO and certain other related medications.
No one can be sure which results will be achieved by Roger Clemens. Will the federal prosecutors prove that he has lied before the Congress? Will he admit to taking prohibited drugs? Or will be the results opposite?

Lack of changes in physical appearance of Roger Clemens is used by his defense attorney

Every baseball fan knows that Roger Clemens is accused in obstruction of justice. It is claimed that he has lied before Congress about application of steroids and HGH.
The attorney Rusty Hardin noted that Roger Clemens’ physical appearance didn’t change greatly before, during and after his working with Brian McNamee. The attorney affirmed that this factor proved that Roger Clemens hadn’t administered steroids and other related medicines.
Increase of muscle mass is normally used by prosecutors as proof that a person applied steroids or/and other related preparations. But this tendency was not used during the governmental case against Roger Clemens. Nobody could affirm that Roger Clemens’ muscles manifested that he had applied steroids and HGH. It is one of differences between the cases against Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds.
As for the governmental case against Barry Bonds, prosecutors called many persons in the trial that could testify that anabolic steroids led to essential changes in physical appearance of this sportsperson. They confirmed that administration of steroids led to enhancement of muscle mass, enhanced size of the head and testicular shrinkage in Barry Bonds.
Thus, the defense attorney Rusty Hardin presented four photos of Roger Clemens. The photos displayed physical appearance of Roger Clemens, including the period of time when Clemens was working with the coach Brain McNamee. The attorney noticed that the photos manifested that there were no changes in physical appearance that could manifest that he applied steroids and HGH.
The defense attorney for Roger Clemens noticed that the photos manifested just the process of ageing. The masseur Cheryl Redfern noticed that she didn’t observe any changes in physique of Roger Clemens. Roger Clemens had neither back acne, nor gynecomastia, nor essentially increased muscles.
Phil Garner a former Major League Baseball player also confirmed that there were not any obvious changes in physical appearance and performance of Roger Clemens during working with Brian McNamee.
Steve Durham, the Assistant US Attorney put efforts to discredit the affirmation about lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens during the cross-examination of Garner. He claimed that while some steroids enhanced muscle size, others didn’t promote increasing muscles. So, he claimed that the pictures could say nothing about steroid use.
Feds want to take advantages in both cases: in the case against Roger Clemens and in that against Barry Bonds. While they confirm that physical changes in Barry Bonds display that he has applied steroids, lack of physical changes in Roger Clemens doesn’t prove that he hasn’t taken steroids.

Steroid user is accused in mass murder

Anders Behring Breivik is a murderer of over 70 persons. He bombed governmental buildings in Oslo (Norway). Some teenagers of the Workers’ Youth League camp were also killed by him on Utoya island in July 2011.
The killer trained for the massacre substantially. He admitted that he had utilized cycles with steroids.  Since he utilized steroids, these products were blamed for the deadly actions by numerous reporters.
But what did specialists claim? Joerge Moerland, a professor of forensic toxicology at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, contested affirmations of these reporters. The doctor Moerland affirmed that anabolic steroids didn’t contribute in rampage of this person. But the specialist noted that it was impossible to contest that these preparations could cause aggressiveness in Breivik.
An ECA, a combination of caffeine, aspirin and ephedrine, was also used by Breivik. In fact, this stack is usually taken by bodybuilders in order to lose fat and stimulate themselves for workouts. It was set that the murderer has administered great amount of the stack. The amount used by him was by 50 % greater than it is permitted under rules of European Union.
The toxicologist Moerland claimed that the killer’s behavior was more substantially affected by the ECA than steroids. He pointed out that ephedrine might cause desire to be involved in risky activities. Moerland confirmed that Breivik’s central nervous system had been affected by ephedrine.
Nevertheless, the specialist Moerland noted about limitation of the ECA’ influence. The amount of caffeine consumed by the killer was equal to about 5 cups of coffee. Thus, the amount was not enough enhanced in order to be demonized for the massacre.
Anders Breivik described his application of steroids and dietary supplements in details. He also recommended other individuals purchasing steroids at Alinshop.
The killer expressed his dislike of Dianabol because it could cause bloating. He explained that Dianabol could add more body mass than one could carry. According to his statements, circa 50 % of the mass gained due to this medicine is fluid retention. The murderer decided to administer certain combinations that were proper for his needs.
Anders Breivik learnt about effects of different steroids in order to choose those who were suitable for his purposes. He confirmed that Testosterone Propionate was better than Dianabol. He also supposed that combinations of Dianabol with Aromasin or intake of Dianabol followed by intake of Winstrol could benefit obviously.
So, the killer prepared for the massacre scrupulously. He spent time in order to choose and plan steroid cycles and intake of dietary supplements. He also pondered about every aspect related to attacks and murders.
However certain individuals claimed that Anders Breivik was legally insane, it’s wrong. It is evident that he has done it consciously.

Detective Nick Bingham: motorcycle gangs possess steroids just for self-administration

According to the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald”, outlaw motorcycle gangs are responsible for spread of illegal steroid use in Australia. The gangs receive high profit and decreased risks.
Nick Bingham, a detective, has noticed that New South Wales Police doesn’t focus on investigation linked with administration of steroids but anabolic steroids become targets of investigations, when outlaw motorcycle gangs are arrested for violation of other laws.
According to the detective Nick Bingham, although New South Wales police officials don’t raid houses of gangs for steroids, they find them, when searches for weapons and stimulants are conducted.
Nick Bingham has claimed that they commonly seize such amounts of steroids from motorcycle gangs which are just for personal intake. Quantities of other substances which are commonly found in possession of gangs are much greater than those of steroids.
Nick Bingham has noticed that criminals like utilizing anabolic steroids in order to build threatening muscular physiques. They desire to look big and powerful.
Although the detective Nick Bingham is sure that gangs possess steroids just for personal intake, the newspaper “The Sydney Morning Herald” presents opposite opinion. It reports that motorcycle gangs are implicated in smuggling of steroids.
Although gyms are considered to be the chief sources of steroids for bodybuilders, it is confirmed by “The Sydney Morning Herald” that some gyms have direct connections with motorcycle gangs. The Herald confirms that numerous seizures made by the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service are linked directly with distribution of steroids by motorcycle gangs.
According to affirmations of Australian Customs, mail seizures of steroids have been increased essentially in comparison with past years.
Over 2, 000 seizures were made in 2009-2010 and more than 5, 000 seizures of steroids were recorded in 2010-2011.
Lots of seizures were related to personal intake of steroids imported by bodybuilders.

David Segui will help to reveal truth about Roger Clemens

Federal prosecutors hope that the judge Reggie Walton will permit the Cuban-American former Major League Baseball first baseman David Segui to testify in the trial linked with the case of Roger Clemens. This person had a conversation with Brian McNamee, the former coach of Roger Clemens. It is claimed that they have spoken about steroid use by the former famous baseball player.
McNamee was chosen to testify against Roger Clemens because he turned out to be the only person that had direct knowledge about administration of steroids and other related preparations by Roger Clemens. Furthermore, he saved a beer can with vials, syringes and needles which were allegedly mixed with Roger Clemens’ blood. DNA analysis was made in order to determine whether the blood belonged really to Clemens.
Rusty Hardin, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, claimed that the steroid evidence was fabricated by Brian McNamee after the questioning by federal prosecutors.
But prosecutors claimed that David Segui told them that Brian McNamee said that he stored several things as evidence of steroid use by some players in 2001. It was certain years before the former trainer of Roger Clemens became the target of the investigation.
Information provided by Segui to federal prosecutors differed significantly from that provided to the sportswriter Jim Baumbach. His words presented to the sportswriter were published in an article in 2008. According to that article, David Segui claimed that he had never discussed about steroids with his friend Brian McNamee.
David Segui learnt about involvement of Brian McNamee into the case of Roger Clemens only in 2006, when he read a piece of news in the Los Angeles Times.
David Segui was quite open in his discussions about personal usage of steroids and other related products. He said that Major League Baseball players asked him numerous times whether he had utilized steroids. This person acknowledged that he had utilized them. But David Segui confirmed that he had never spoken about usage of steroids with Brian McNamee.
Segui supported McNamee’s decision to save evidence about usage of prohibited medicines by his clients. According to Segui, it is a right decision because sometimes innocent persons are blamed but guilty persons are covered. Thus, Brian McNamee could help to reveal the truth.
Although federal prosecutors asked the judge Walton to permit Segui to present testimony in the trial linked with Roger Clemens, the decision of the judge is not announced yet.

Andre Berto tries to determine what has caused positives for steroids

The boxer Andre “The Best” Berto tested positive for Nandrolone. The Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) conducted the drug testing.
He had to fight against Victor Ortiz on June 23, 2012 in Los Angeles. This boxer agreed to submit to random drug testing before the match. Both “A” and “B” urine samples indicated about intake of the anabolic steroid Nandrolone.
It was already the second time this month, when the VADA tested fighters and caught them administering steroids. The first of them was the boxer Lamont Peterson. He was scheduled to fight against Amir Khan. It seems to be strange that Peterson requested random blood and urine testing. The drug test conducted by the VADA indicated that testosterone of exogenous origin was in this fighter’s system several weeks before the match.
The tests conducted by the VADA impacted on financial position of certain companies obviously. For example, Golden Boy Promotions lost significant potential profit due to Lamont Peterson’s positives. It was estimated by Richard Schaeffer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, that the company lost 250, 000 dollars.
The cancelation of the fight between Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz will probably not influence greatly on financial position of certain promotional companies because another boxer will possibly replace Andre Berto and will fight against Ortiz.
The fighter Andre Berto didn’t explain why he tested positive. This fighter hired the attorney Howard Jacobs who would represent and defeat him.
Andre Berto said that he had never used steroids. Thus, he confirmed that he investigated with his attorney what could lead to positives for steroids. Andre Berto concluded that he had never cheated; he achieved success in sport because of hard work and dedication.
The attorney Howard Jacobs defeated many other athletes who turned out to be victims of fake food supplements.
It is said that since the steroid Nandrolone has very long half life and it is detected easily, it is not widespread among dopers. But it has been displayed numerous times that several food supplements contained the substance nandrolone that caused positives for steroids. But since sometimes not each ingredient is listed on the label, athletes become victims of contaminated sport supplements.

Nevada Athletic Commission doesn’t take into account role of steroids in enhancement of performance, if they are used during trainings

Chael Sonnen is allowed to use anabolic steroids. The physician Timothy Trainor claimed that this sportsman really suffered from hypogonadism.
What does this condition represent? Hypogonadism is connected with insufficient testosterone secretion. Physicians commonly recommend hormone replacement therapy in order to cure this condition.
This fighter has received a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). So, this athlete is allowed to utilize steroids for medical purposes and fight against Anderson Silva at UFC 148 in July 2012.
According to recommendations of Chael Sonnen’s health care provider, he should be injected with Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate twice a week. The quantities which are indicated have not been discussed. But under establishments of the Nevada Athletic Commission, blood serum levels of testosterone in Chael Sonnen should be within normal range on the morning after the fight against Silva.
According to the doctor Trainor, those that compete with TUE should be tested on the morning after the match to define whether they have utilized something right before the competition.
The doctor Trainor thinks that testosterone causes performance-enhancing effects, if it is administered right before the fight. He claims that injections must not be applied in the days before a fight to prevent enhanced testosterone levels.
But it seems that the NAC is not aware that steroids cause benefits related to enhancement of performance, not only if they are used right before competitions. Usage of steroids influences essentially on performance during trainings before competitions. And the benefits remain even after athletes stop taking them.
Sonnen had increased levels of testosterone at UFC 117. He noted that he had tested positive because he had been on TRT.  He appealed his suspension and it was lowered to 6 months from one year. But he didn’t have any TUE that time.

Bulgarian athlete was arrested for drug trade during serving suspension for steroid use

Galabin Boevski, a Bulgarian weightlifter, World Champion and Olympic Champion, was sentenced to nine-month imprisonment because of illicit international drug trade. This sportsperson was arrested in October 2011 at the Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil after he attempted to board the plane with eight kg of cocaine. Galabin Boevski was led to Bulgaria. Cocaine was estimated. It could be sold at the price of 500, 000 dollars on the streets in European countries.
Boevski is a celebrated athlete in Bulgaria. He is considered to be one of the most famous weightlifters in this country.
First he was caught taking steroids in 1995. Undoubtedly, he was sentenced to suspension.
Then this sportsman was caught using banned preparations in 2004. It was the second time when he violated doping rules. Actually, Galabin Boevski didn’t test positive for any forbidden products. But anti-doping officials defined that he didn’t provide own urine. The urine which was provided by this weightlifter belonged to another individual. As a result, Galabin Boevski was sentenced to 8-year suspension. During serving the suspension he was caught trafficking cocaine.
Galabin Boevski became prominent due to his success in weightlifting. This person won gold medals at several competitions: at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and the 2001 World Weightlifting Championships in Antalya.
At the 2003 World Championships in Vancouver this sportsperson and his teammates from Bulgaria provided urine samples that belonged to another person. It was defined by anti-doping officials that the three urine samples were produced by one individual. These sportspersons were sentenced to suspensions. Galabi Boevski appealed the suspension but it was unsuccessful.
Galabin Boevski broke several world records at different competitions. He held three world records. The best lifts of this athlete were following: a 162, 5 kg snatch, 196, 5 kg clean and jerk and a 357, 5 kg of two lifts at the 1999 Championships.
It is wondering but this athlete’s reputation was not spoiled in Bulgaria. He used his status of celebrity in sports in order to launch a Technogym fitness center in Sofia. The center was called Atama Wellness and Spa.
Moreover, the Brazilian judge Maria Isabel do Prado claimed that Boevski used also his status of celebrity in sports in order to traffic the narcotic cocaine. She also noted that this sportsman used the participation of his daughter in a Brazilian tennis tournament to hide his illicit operations connected with smuggling of the narcotic.
The weightlifter Galabin Boevski decided to appeal the conviction.

Shock of federal prosecutors at Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington

The desire of the federal government related to the case of Roger Clemens was following: they hoped to prove that this person had lied before the Congress about application of anabolic steroids and HGH. But the government couldn’t do it. It was expected that Andy Pettitte would tell the jury that Roger Clemens had admitted that he had used the banned drugs during a conversation in 1999 or in 2000. But the affirmation of Andy Pettitee was shocking for prosecutors. This person said that he couldn’t affirm that Roger Clemens had used steroids and HGH because he was not sure.
Actually, were the prosecutors of Roger Clemens disappointed by the testimony of Andy Pettitte? This man swore for the 2008 Congressional hearings on usage of steroids in the Major League Baseball that Roger Clemens acknowledged that he had administered HGH. But he pronounced opposite statements at the Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse in Washington.
Michael Attanasio, a defense attorney for Roger Clemens, asked Andy Pettitte whether he can affirm that he is 50-50 that he has misunderstood Roger Clemens about HGH. Andy Pettitte answered that he is really 50-50 about this aspect.
When Clemens’ prosecutors heard the answer of Andy Pettitte, they didn’t know what to do. They affirmed that Pettitte never said this way, when he was asked several times.
The judge Reggie Walton noticed that he understood that Andy Pettitte’s answer has been conflicted. In fact, his testimony was following: “I don’t know”.
The attorneys for Roger Clemens utilized the moment of the prosecutors’ confusion. They asked the judge to brush aside Andy Pettitte’s testimony because he was 50-50. According to the attorneys, he probably misunderstood the athlete Roger Clemens or he forgot the details of the conversation.
The government has noted that the jury still allows taking into account the testimony of Andy Pettitte. ASUSA Dunham has pointed out that under federal rules jury is allowed to choose which testimony to believe. He hopes that the jury will brush aside the testimony that doesn’t support the government.
Thus, the testimony provided by Andy Pettitte and his wife led to problems. Testimonies of Andy’s wife during the first trial led to the declaration of a mistrial by the judge Walton.
Pettitte affirms that he is a friend of Roger Clemens. Clemens must also confirm that they are friends after Andy  Pettitte’s last testimony.

Steroids were discovered at home of steroid user that shot five police officers

Police officers raided the house of Cullen Mutrie for a drug investigation. This ma shot five police officers at his home. As a result of the shootout, the Greenland Police Chief Michael Maloney  was killed; other four police officials were wounded. The next morning this killer and a woman were found dead.
It is suggested that Cullen Mutrie was applying anabolic steroids at the time of the shootout. Jane Young, the New Hampshire Associate Attorney General, stated that toxicology reports were waiting in order to learn whether metabolites of steroids were in the body of this man.
Police claimed that Mutrie had been a muscular person. This person worked at Genetix Fitness in Seabrook. It was claimed that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighed 275 pounds. During a raid that was in July 2010 police officers discovered anabolic steroids at his home. The police official Wayne Young found them in a coffee table. He said that he had noticed a plastic bag with several vials. A vial was with powder; others contained liquid. The labels indicated that they were steroids.
The New Hampshire State Crime Lab analyzed the vials. It was defined that the vials contained such medications, as Trenbolone Acetate, Sustanon 250, Boldenone Undecylenate and Nandrolone Decanoate.
The professor of kinesiology John Miller was asked whether a link between the criminal actions and aggressiveness due to anabolic steroids could present. The specialist noticed that it was plausible. But according to him, it is impossible to affirm that there was a direct connection between usage of anabolic steroids and the crime.
John Miller supposed that steroids which were on the black market were provided from legal pharmaceutical companies. But he has been mistaken because the majority of steroids which are sold on the black market are produced in underground labs. It is even suggested that Cullen Mutrie manufactured steroids.
Since a link between crimes and usage of steroids is a controversial issue, not only policemen but also correspondents investigate the case connected with this killer.

Alistar Overeem’s physician couldn’t provide reasonable explanation linked with steroid use by his patient

Alistar Overeem, a mixed martial artist, appealed his suspension which was received by him for intake of anabolic steroids on April 24, 2012. But he couldn’t win his appeal against members of NSAC. This fighter lost his license for 9 months. Then he can come back.
Alistar Overeem acknowledged that he had administered injectable testosterone which was prescribed him by his health care provider. Alistar Overeem utilized the strategy which was considered to be boring. He claimed that he had never applied anabolic steroids or other related medications intentionally. Alistar Overeem tried to make the NSAC believe that his injectable administration of steroids was accidental.
David Chenoff, the defense attorney for Alistar Overeem, is experienced in representing famous athletes.
Chesnoff called the personal doctor of Overeem to testify during the hearing. It was suggested that Dr. Molina would testify in defense for his patient. Testimonies of this physician were too miserable. The physician Molina provided an explanation for recommendations of several preparations which led to Overeem’s elevated testosterone: epitestosterone ratio.
The treating doctor of Alistar Overeem admitted that he prescribed and injected this fighter with a mixture of Toradol and Dexamethasone because he suffered from an injury. In fact, these medications are utilized for anti-inflammatory needs. But application of testosterone in case of injuries is not approved by the FDA.
It is suggested that the health care provider Molina hasn’t informed Alistar Overeem that these drugs contain the anabolic steroid testosterone. But it is evidentially that he has never asked about it.
So, testimonies of Dr. Molina turned out to show lack of the evidence linked with clinical purposes for administration of prohibited preparations by Alistar Overeem. The health care provider couldn’t present any reasonable explanation that could justify prescribing of Toradol and Dexamethasone to this person. Testimonies of the health care provider Molina worked against Alistar Overeem.
In fact, it was felt that Overeem was a victim of the doctor’s quack.
But it is possible to suggest that this strategy was designed by the defense attorney for this athlete.
The commissioner Pat Lundval was probably impressed by the defense of Overeem. She even called him a “smart guy”.
The members of the NSAC seemed to be convinced that Alistar Overeem has been actually a great guy but he has surrounded himself with such questionable individuals, as the doctor Moline. They recommended him to find more qualified professionals in the future.
